Leaving Your Children At Boarding School
Author: admin / Category: GeneralYou may be dreading leaving your child at a boarding school and you are not alone. parental ties are loosened a little bit all over the country as sons and daughters gain a little bit more independence. Its only natural to be a little worried, after all they may never have been away from home for more than a couple of nights before. It is worth bearing in mind however that your child is probable worried just the same as you are. New faces and new surroundings will be everywhere and they wont have the protection of their mum and dad either. To make the change as painless as possible, try a few of these tips.
Maintain contact. Having confidence in the fact they can get in touch with you when they need to is very important. Say that you will ring at the same time every evening and keep doing it until they plead you to stop. Children often don’t ask you to ring them and it’s much better for them to get fed up of you than long to hear your voice. Woodbridge School set aside an hour every evening for such phone calls
Send food and gifts. send a parcel with a number of different nice items in so often. This could be anything from money to snacks. What it actually is that you send is not important, its more the fact that they will be happy someone outside of the school is thinking about them. It could even help with their popularity as they can share out any of the goodies you send. Always ask the school first however as some schools such as Eastbourne College do not allow gift parcels
Visit when invited. If there is a sporting event or produced that has been organised by the school you should make every effort to attend. Notre Dame School have monthly events where they invite everyone’s friends and family along for a great day and everyone has a brilliant time. Your child won’t feel like they are the odd one out if you go and you can often spend some high quality time with them
