Since your marriage ceremony will be the highlight of a lifetime, you will want to consider that time spent in planning and details will be well rewarded.  This includes everything, right down to the arrangements for the wedding reception.

If you are getting prepared for planning a reception, here’s a look at how a standard one usually goes.

Wedding receptions generally get underway less than a quarter of an hour after the ceremony, provided that the hall is onsite.  Once the guests arrive, they are received and seated.This is the plan that is usually taken, in case you decide to go with a seating plan. Or, guests may choose to sit wherever and with whomever they prefer.

Afterward, be certain that the main sponsors and parent are guided to chairs, seated at the table of honor.

The entourage members excluding the primary sponsors and parents, once seated should assemble around the receiving area.  They all must get together at once.First, the flower girls are invited, followed by the ring bearers.  Then it is the secondary sponsors, followed by the groomsmen who, themselves,  accompany the bridesmaids.  They are followed by the best man accompanying the maid of honor.

After this, the couple makes their grand entrance, to the accompaniment of effects such as confetti, bubbles, fog, etc.

The parents of the bride and groom should be recognized after the couple has made their entrance. Then suggest that the bride and groom begin the cake cutting ceremony.  Next comes the formal toast with glasses of bubbly, with perhaps a dove release too.The maid of honor traditionally performs  an thanksgiving prayer at this time. After this comes the meal, in which the guests are called for pictures with the bride and groom.  After this, they go to the buffet table to run things at the table. The musicians perform their songs after everyone has been seated and served.  Should there be an audio-visual display, it shall follow.

The best man then gives his own toast to the bride and groom, followed by the many well wishes from the rest of the attendees to the couple.  Only a few of these should be allowed, otherwise it will become too busy.Once this is done, the Bride has a dance with her father, and then the groom steps in and enjoys a dance with his new wife.  Other dancing may follow.

One of every single woman’s favorite feature of a wedding is next, the bouquet tossing ceremony, which is usually followed by the groom teasingly removing the brides garter and then tossing it into the crowd of single men. Dont forget inexpensive wedding favors or winter wedding favors!

There are many ways to do this event.  Some wedding receptions don’t have live performers, for instance, and some incorporate a dance in which the groom’s mother dances with her son.  By barely tweaking the standard program, your reception will offer originality to keep your guests engaged while maintaining tradition.
