As you continue to grow and learn more about marketing, you will eventually come to know Copywriting. your copywriting.~Copywriting is the process of writing ads that will sell products or services.}  talent you will need to master or hire someone who has mastered it.~Copywriting is someyour must master yourself or have someone master it for you.~You will need to do good copywriting or recognize good copy when you see it and use it.}  If you like most network marketers you need money more than the time so the responsibility will fall on your shoulders.  Even if you want to out-source it you will want to know what is good copy and what is bad.  “The Copywritter’s Handbook”, by Robert Bly is a great place to start to learn about ads and headlines. He talks about how headlines are the hook for your lead or prospect. of someone who will read your ad.~Headlines are designed to draw the attention of the audience to your ad.}  You may have the {greatest ad in the world but if the headline does not catch the persons interest then no will read the ad.~You can have a terrible ad and a great headline and it will do better than a great ad and a lousy headline.} Here are four functions of the Headline.

1.    Your headline must get the person’s attention.  Your reader will be attracted to headlines that target their interests.  It comes down to “What’s In It For Me”.  Before your reader gets to the ad, your headline must show or tell them why they should open your email or click your ad.  Here are some example’s from Robert Bly’s book:
a.    Give Your Kids a Fighting Chance  – Crest
b.    Why Swelter Through Another Hot Summer – GE air conditioners
The reader will know that the ad is about their children’s teeth or their comfort before they open the email or read the ad.  You can get the readers attention by delivering news.  News ad will have: discover, inroducing, now, at last in the headline to get the readers attention.  All these words are designed to capture the attention of the audience just long enough for them to read the message or open the email.

2.    Your headline should filter your reader.  It is not just about getting the attention of the rader but the right kind of reader to your ad.  An ad about jewelry should appeal to someone who can actually buy the jewlry.  Selling retirement to someone who just graduated college is hopeless.  Your headline can help filter out those who would not be interested. Here are two examples that target our audience:
a.      Is Your Kirby Vacuum Still Working?
b.    All Gieco Customers, We Can Save You Hundred’s Of Dollars Now.
If you own a Kirby vacuum or Goeco insurance then you might read on.
3.    Your message in your headline should be complete.  David Ogilvy once said, “four out of five readers will read the headline and skip the rest of the ad” If the headline doen’t sell it then you are dead.  If your headline does not deliver a complete message then you are missing 80% of the readers who will skip you ad.  Ogilvy recommends that you include the selling promise and the brand name in the headline.

4.    Headlines appealing to the readers self-interest will draw theminto the ad.  Curiosity killed the cat and it will lead your reader into your ad.  Think back to headlines you have looked at and open the emails because you want to know what it said about something that interested you.  “Save 0 On Yor Groceries By Using By Shopping Buying At This TIme Of Day”  would attract anyone wanting to save money.  

Create a swipe file of headlines that attracted your attention. This is where you keep all your ideas for headlines and ads.  Do not try to be original.  Leave that for others.  All you want to do is write good copy that motivates or compels someone to buy your opportunity or product.  Do not think you are unique in how you respnd to an ad; if it worked on you then it will work on others.  You need to do two things 1) start analyzing headlines and save the good ones; 2) Buy Robert Bly’s book and start becoming a copywriting master.
