Shark in the Middle is a funny game that the team can play anytime during the practice and its duration can be shortened or increased as per the requirements. This is one of several free soccer training drills that aims to make the players more attentive and in control in high-pressure games.

Players stand in a large circle on the field. Then a player is made to act like a Shark and stand in the center of the circle. There is only one ball in it and given to a person who stands in the circle.

When you blow the whistle, the player who has the ball passes it to the player just along the circle. Then the second player passes the ball to another player he likes and so on.

Then the whistle is blown again signaling the start of the game. The sole purpose of the game is to keep the ball away from the shark. The player may pass the ball to anyone they like along the circle, be it a teammate right next to him or a teammate at some distance. Players try to make as many passes as possible.

This practice continues till the time the shark possesses the ball.

When the ball is caught, the player that caused the ball to be intercepted becomes the new shark and the first shark joins others along the circle.

Shark in the Middle is one of those football drills that demands a great deal of thinking and the ability to act like a shark.

Has it ever occurred to you that head can be very effectively used in passing on the ball when it is still in the air? This does not hurt the player in any way if is it practiced correctly in the youth soccer drills.

When you are about to teach the heading skill to players for the first time, you should do it with a deflated ball. This can be done by letting some air out of the ball so that it shrinks and becomes soft and supple for kids to play. When it comes to kids soccer drills, like always, begin with the basics of heading, some of which I’ll be happy to share with you.

The players should learn to move along the ball while it is still in air because they need to be in front of the ball when making a contact with it. Players should learn to maintain a clear view of the ball all the way in until it thumps their forehead.

Let the kids understand the significance of keeping an eye on the ball and watch it coming to them and going away from them. It they don’t know which way the ball is going or coming from, they risk getting hurt. In youth soccer practice, teach players to strike the ball with the forehead’s top-front part instead of the crown or temples.

Youth Soccer Drills

Most of the youth soccer drills highlight the movement required to head the ball properly. Following are the two drills that have been explained for you:

Sitting and Knees: This drill in youth soccer coaching requires 2 players and a ball. One player should ssit on the ground and have their legs stretched out in the front. The second player will stand directly in front of the first one and throw the ball really low towards him or her. The strategy behind this is that the person who hits the ball has to come forward to do it because the ball id thrown short.

This activity should go on with a player positioned with both knees on the ground. Then, the player will have to attack forward to hit the ball. This drill is useful in teaching the players to use their head in guiding the ball.

Head out of Hands: To work with this drill, you need to have cones and a ball for each player. It needs the players to hold the ball with their hands and then throw it out by heading it. They should be instructed to move their head to the ball and then the ball to their head.

Use of cones can help in teaching them the skill of heading to a specific location. The players acquire the skill of heading the ball in a particular direction using their head.

I stayed in the dorms my freshman year. I eventually got used to it, started to meet people, and found my way fitting in socially with new friends. I still missed my girlfriend back home though. She was still in High School, absolutely gorgeous with long brown hair and deep emerald eyes. I missed her so much. She missed me too, but not as much as I missed her, apparently. She filled the hole I’d left with another guy and told me on the phone one night it was finished.

There was tons do do at college to keep myself busy. Apart from studying and prepping for exams, I’d met lots of cool people and pretty girls. It was like I was partying every single night. It did get kind of old in time, and I moved of campus for my second year.

Me and 6 other guys found an apartment. It was downtown, and we drew straws for the rooms. I got the biggest room, and it had a full size loft bed, and plenty of room for my computer desk underneath. I cycled to campus each week for classes and ended up getting pretty fit.

My first year at college had it’s challenges, but eventually it worked out so well. I’ll always remember those days fondly and recommend every young person who feels hesitant about all the extra freedom to let go and just enjoy it.
